Happy Birthday Oldest Son!
Being a mom is now apparently 28 years in the run!!
Well, actually it was two days ago…. but we’ve been so busy celebrating that I’ve had no time to keep up with my blog. My intention to post one thought every day during Lent is meeting the same fate as many of my plans; they are revised according to reality.
Visiting my son and his girlfriend in their hometown, Brussels, for four days is just a treat. First of all, being able to spend a few days off together with my grown-up children, my oldest daughter too, is just special. But also, meeting the spring with all that goes with it has been a mood booster. Temperatures far above 20 (feels like 30)!! is certainly good for both energy and a pale face. Ice cream, tulips and ducklings in the parks. Lots of spring flowers and fries, waffles, and chocolate. Even some turtles swimming in the pond and resting in the sun.
We had a birthday dinner at a Chinese concept restaurant according to the jubilee’s wish. While he went for the strongest, I chose mild vegetarian. And no, I still can’t eat with sticks. And yes, I still dislike cilantro no matter how many times I try. I figured out that chinese beer cannot compare to Belgian beer, of which quite a few are still brewed in monasteries. There is a wide selection of authentic old sorts produced mostly by Trappist monks. But that´s another story…..
Well, it´s certainly a good idea to take some time off, when possible, and spend time with the family. Normally the ratio between work and family is wrong, spending far too much time away from home, trying stressfully to maintain a good balance. Everyday duties and routines always tend to overshadow familytime. Already on Monday I´m back in business, therefore try to enjoy every minute.
